PRAGUE CITY HALL
The City Hall of the City of Prague is an administrative unit of the local government whose function is to provide services to the residents of the capital city.
The City Hall performs the functions of the municipal and regional authorities of Prague.
Organisationally, the City Hall consists of various departments and services, which in turn are divided into divisions.
The City Hall (Czech: Magistrát hlavního města Prahy) is responsible for public transport, waste collection, municipal police, fire protection, ambulance services, cultural activities, management of historical sites, the zoo and city-wide events.
The City of Prague is headed by the Mayor (Czech: primátor).
The position of Mayor has been held by Bohuslav Svoboda since 16 February 2023.
The term of office of the Mayor of Prague is 4 years and he is accountable to the City Council. The Prague City Council is an elected executive body with 65 members elected in local elections.
The Presidium of the Prague City Council has 11 members who are elected by the City Council.
