A CULTURAL CHILDREN’S CENTRE IN PRAGUE WILL INCREASE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AMONG CHILDREN

A cultural children’s centre in Prague will increase physical activity among children

I recently had the unique opportunity to visit the TOP TOP Residence cultural children’s centre in Prague’s Vinohrady district.

The two-storey building in the courtyard blends harmoniously into the architectural ensemble of the Bohemian part of the Prague district.

We met the director of the children’s centre, Alena Valentinovna Pinskaja, PhD (on the photo), in August. Of course, we talked about this ambitious project. The Cultural Children’s Centre, which was opened in 2022, includes several day care groups for young children — in other words, it is a kindergarten.

On the ground floor there is a children’s activity centre with a large hall that is used as a theatre hall with a mobile stage, as well as a dance and sports hall. There are yoga classes, sports classes such as gymnastics and dance classes for children and adults.

«Children today are more active than ever, and it is well known that it is difficult to find places in Prague where children can be active. Many hobby classes in preschools are «sedentary». Sports classes are not always the solution to the problem of keeping children active. That is why I find it very successful to combine the rooms for the day care groups and a large, spacious hall for physical activity in one building. Our children’s centre is an excellent example of combining children’s physical activity programmes with a classic group kindergarten,» says Alena Valentinovna.

The new Prague Children’s Centre is suitable for children of pre-school and primary school age. The Prague Kindergarten has Czech and Russian speaking groups. The groups are located on different floors of the building. The Czech group is located on the first floor of the building and is staffed by Czech teachers who are assisted by a Russian-speaking assistant when necessary.

The two-storey Children’s Centre, with several separate halls and rooms, can accommodate up to 50 children at a time, with a maximum of 12 children per group. The Children’s Centre in Prague is open every day, except Sundays, from 8 am to 6 pm.

«We are also open on Saturdays. The Saturday group can be visited both by children who come to our children’s centre regularly from Monday to Friday and by children who do not come to us regularly, i. e. they can visit our kindergarten only on Saturdays. Of course, the children are occupied, fed and taken for walks on this day,» adds Alena Valentinovna.

It is important to note that the Children’s Cultural Centre in Prague’s Vinohrady district has numerous children’s classes that can be attended not only by pre-school children, but also by school-age children.

«Among the many children’s classes we can highlight: the speech therapy class, which helps children discover their potential and teaches them to speak correctly and clearly, and the science discovery class, which is a fascinating class where the child becomes a little researcher and discovers the mysterious world of science and technology. The Rhythm and Movement class will help develop flexibility, coordination and physical fitness of the child. There are also Czech and English language classes. Your children will learn Czech and English through interactive games, songs and fun activities,» says Alena Valentinovna.
