Leo Bogonos: «I try to show the queen in a woman through haircuts and colouring»
Among Prague hairdressers, I have often heard their private opinion that many women in Prague are constantly looking for «their» hairdresser. So it is no coincidence that today’s meeting is dedicated to the professional hairdresser Leonid Bogonos, better known as Leo Bogonos in the professional world and among his many clients.

Background and education
As an 18‑year-old student at the Legal Institute in Moldova, Istarted cutting hair for my teachers and colleagues at the institute. My great desire to be a hairdresser led me to a professional hairdressing school, from which I graduated in 2000. I then opened my first hairdressing salon in Kishinev, and in 2016 we moved to Prague with my wife and children and opened a women’s salon there. I was trained at international hairdressing schools and academies, the most important of which are: Wella Professionals, L’Oréal Professionnel.
Modern and rejuvenating haircuts
In today’s busy world, many women do not have the time to take care of their hair. I take all these trends into consideration and offer girls and ladies haircuts that are «wearable»: that is, you can get up in the morning, comb your hair, style it easily and go out on the street. And when a lady is getting ready for a party or a dinner party, I suggest haircuts that she can easily style herself.
My haircuts look perfect on a woman both in the office and in the evening. In practice, I often find that a woman can rejuvenate herself significantly by changing her hairstyle. Short haircuts in particular have a rejuvenating effect, for example, the clip, the discontinuity. Such short haircuts give a woman more rhythm and emphasise her femininity.
Hair colour and colouring
The hair colour a woman chooses, and wears is also the colour she carries inside. For example, a woman with garnet hair carries this fire within her, she shows her inner world through her hair colour, I think.
When the Master changes the colour of a woman’s hair, she must be prepared to take a few days to psychologically adjust and accept the «new hair».
Often girls and women come to me and ask me to dye their hair to the exact colour they have chosen for themselves.
I use a professional point of view and the condition of the hair to evaluate the chosen colour: will the hair look natural, is it suitable for the client’s hair colour.
Long hair
Many girls think that long hair makes them more attractive to men, but this is not always the case. Our human eye naturally likes activity.
So, in my experience, the male eye first notices activity, stops at hair with «waves» that are «playing», curling. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the word ‘curly’ comes from ‘flirt’ and ‘seduce’.
Look at advertisements and magazines: models usually have their hair curled or waved, and why? Because it attracts attention.
I’m trying to draw girls’ and women’s attention to this so that they move away from super-long hair and towards haircuts that show hair in motion.
The secret of success
The secret lies in a seemingly simple truth: you must not only love and be passionate about your profession — you must also know its origins and traditions.
And a true professional looks first and foremost at the client: in this case, at how to make a lady look fabulous in the eyes of men, bringing out her beauty and individuality.
