HLUBOKÁ NAD VLTAVOU

Its original name was Frauenberg.

During the first 400 years of its existence (from the 13th to the 17th century), the castle changed hands 26 times.

In 1660 it became the property of the Schwarzenberg family. Windsor Castle served as a model for its reconstruction.

Hluboka Castle was nationalised in 1947 and has been a state museum ever since. The castle is located 180 kilometres from Prague.

From the main railway station in Prague take a train to České Budějovice or Veselí nad Lužnicí and then a local train to Hluboká nad Vltavou or Hluboká n.Vlt.-Zámostí.
